It's a relatively liberal city considering that the state is known for being quite conservative. But regardless of politics, Atlantans are friendly to each other and to newcomers and always greet you with a smile on their face. The warmth of the people is, without a doubt, what I like most about living in Atlanta, Georgia. Southern hospitality is a real thing, and you can count on being greeted with a warm greeting and nodding your head almost everywhere you go. Atlanta lives and breathes Southern hospitality.

Sometimes referred to as the “Hollywood of the South”, some shows and movies have been filmed in Atlanta. The gun laws here are very lax, and I'm surprised at the number of people who “carry guns”, even in public places (churches, etc.) In my experience, when you meet a rude person in Atlanta, they're usually someone who's moved here and maybe called Atlanta home for a few years, so maybe they'll say they're a real local. Many Atlanta residents take advantage of the mild climate to grow orchards, tropical plants and more on their properties. Whether you're a young professional looking for a dynamic urban experience or a family seeking a more suburban lifestyle, Atlanta has something to offer.
Marta is a great option, but it's only for Atlanta, so if you work in the city but live in the metropolitan area, public transportation is very limited. The only advice I usually give to my friends thinking about moving to Atlanta is to live within city limits or to choose a neighborhood close to work because otherwise traffic will take up too much time. The expansive nature of Atlanta has led to significant reliance on cars, leading to congested highways and extended travel. Head to Midtown's Piedmont Park, a 189-acre urban park in downtown Atlanta, perfect for picnics and exercise. Rebuilt since then, Atlanta was an important location for the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s.
